Diwali or Deepawali, as it is popularly called, is known as the festival of lights. It is one of the most celebrated festivals of India. Or, much like a big carnival! Initially, it was celebrated to welcome Lord Rama to Ayodhya after an exile of 14 years. So, all the inhabitants of Ayodhya welcomed him by lighting up diyas and decorating their houses with all sorts of lights and illuminating substances. Now you know, it doesn’t just have a good-looking appeal but also has a great significance attached to it.
To mark the auspiciousness of this festival, people decorate their houses with lights, make floral and colourful rangolis, clean their houses to welcome Goddess Laxmi and God Ganesha. On this day people pray Laxmi Ganesha duo and not Rama, ever wondered why? This is so, as per some age-old tradition which makes us believe that those who do Laxmi puja gets blessed with wealth, prosperity, and happiness. While Ganesha blesses you with knowledge and wisdom to lead a good life. To join the Ayodhya story with the Laxmi and Ganesha being worshipped on this day, many scholars claim that Lord Rama had worshipped Laxmi Ganesha after returning from his exile. That is why Diwali pooja is equivalent to worshipping this brother-sister duo. People make flowers, sweets and other delicacies as offerings to this duo.
But, as some scholars say it explicitly that one needs to perform this Laxmi puja aarti timely to make the best of this festival. So, one needs to perform all the rituals as per specified timing of Diwali puja 2019 to gain good health, wealth and prosperity in abundance. This year, Diwali is being celebrated on 14th November 2020, that is the new moon of Ashwin month of Krishna Paksha falls on this day. Laxmi Pujan Time 2020 has fallen between 5:28 pm to 07:24 pm. While the Pradosh Kaal is said to commence from 5:28 pm to 8:07 pm, the Vrishabh Kaal falls between 5:28 pm to 7:28 pm. While you make a note of Deepawali poojan time, make sure to keep the Diwali chaughadiya muhurat also in mind. This pooja timing for Diwali 2020 falls between 02:17 pm to 4:07 pm in the afternoon on the day of Diwali. If we talk about the Diwali 2020 Puja Vidhi, then the following things or rituals need to be carried out in a pre-determined, as per the year-old traditions advises us.
Firstly on the day of Diwali one needs to worship Goddess Laxmi, and Lord Ganesha, in specific. On the eve of Diwali, one needs to set up a special seat to place the idol of this god duo on it. Further, one needs to sprinkle Ganga Jal near this area. Place a copper or any other kind of Kalash, filled with water in this setup. Draw a swastika and Shree symbol on each side of the Kalash. Then, tie 5 knots with the help of molli or holy threads. Furthermore, tie mango leaves and place 5 mewa, gud phool mithai ghee lotus flower kheel batashe in front of Laxmi Ganesha. Light five ghee ke diye and five oil ke diye in front of God and Goddess. Make sure, after worshipping Laxmi and Ganesha you even pray to Lord Kubera.
